- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagne noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- While the noodles are cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, minced garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the ground beef. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then mix in the ricotta cheese.
- Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of lasagne noodles, then a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagne.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, until the lasagne is hot and bubbly.
- Let the lasagne cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
