Getting to Rottnest Island – Ferry from Perth

We took the ferry from Perth to Rottnest Island and returned the same day. The ferry ride is straightforward, comfortable and offers beautiful views along the way.

  • Departure point: Perth

For us, a one-day trip to Rottnest Island was perfect. It gave us enough time to explore the island without feeling rushed, and we never felt like we were missing out by not staying overnight.

Getting Around Rottnest Island – Explore by Bike

One of the most important things to know before visiting Rottnest Island is that you can only get around by bike. There are no public transport options like buses, and private cars are not allowed. Bikes can be rented directly on the island, and this is by far the best way to explore. We cycled all over the island and even managed to cycle around the entire island in one day. The routes are well maintained, scenic, and suitable even if you’re not an experienced cyclist.

Reaching the lighthouse by bike was one of the highlights of our Rottnest Island visit. The coastal cycling paths offer stunning ocean views, making the ride there and back just as impressive as the lighthouse itself.
