Cliffy Vibes & Ocean Views: My Uluwatu Escape

Uluwatu was the final stop of my Bali trip. After the active days in Ubud and Canggu, it was the perfect place to relax. I spent my last week here soaking in ocean views, relaxing and exploring a few iconic spots along the cliffs.

💆‍♀️ Beach Day at Kempinski

One highlight was my day at Kempinski Bali Day Spa. It’s part of a stunning luxury resort — and honestly, wow. You start at the top, looking down on this incredible tropical estate, and then take an elevator down to the private beach area. There are comfy sunbeds with shade, two large pools you can use for free, and direct beach access — all beautifully maintained and peaceful. Hardly anyone was there, which made it feel like a little hidden retreat. You pay an entry fee and a minimum spend, but it’s 100% worth it for the atmosphere and the view alone.

There’s something magical about being surrounded by water and sky, where time seems to slow down. At Kempinski’s oceanfront escape, I found exactly that. The space isn’t just luxurious — it feels deeply connected to nature. Towering palm trees, shimmering turquoise pools and the soft scent of sea breeze create a dreamlike calm.

🌴 Beach Bliss at Sundays Beach Club Uluwatu

On my last full day, I visited the Sundays Beach Club — and it was honestly one of the coolest experiences of the week. You take a cable car down the cliff to the beach, and the ride alone is worth it: floating over palm trees, ocean sparkling below you. Once you’re down there, you’re met with crystal-clear water, delicious food, a laid-back crowd and a beach atmosphere that feels perfectly designed for unwinding.

The water looked almost unreal — like a giant pool blending into the endless horizon, shifting from turquoise to deep blue with every wave.

🏝️ Party with a View: Savaya

Later that week, I met up with two girls I had just met in Uluwatu, and we went out to Savaya — one of Asia’s most famous beach clubs. The location? Absolutely epic. The club sits high above the cliffs, offering a breathtaking ocean view. That night, a Brazilian DJ was playing — someone I hadn’t heard of before. But to my surprise, he turned out to be a well-known name in South America, and his set was incredible. The energy was high, the music was amazing, and the whole experience totally exceeded my expectations.

🧊 One Eighty Beach Club Uluwatu

I visited One Eighty Beach Club, known for its dramatic glass-bottom infinity pool perched over a sheer cliff. The panoramic view was unreal — ocean as far as the eye could see. With laid-back beats, stylish design, and a calm crowd, it was the ideal start to this last leg of the trip.

🌅 Sunsets & Cool Drinks

For unforgettable sunsets in Uluwatu, I highly recommend La Terrazza. Get there early to grab one of the front-row seats with a direct ocean view — it’s the perfect spot to watch the sky light up in fiery reds and golds. The food and drinks are excellent, making it a great place to unwind as the day ends. And if you’re in the mood for more of a party vibe afterward, just head over to Single Fin next door — one of Bali’s most iconic sunset bars.

🌄 Golden Hour Bliss at The Istana

If you’re looking to relax before flying home check out The Istana. They offer wellness day passes and sunset experiences with access to saunas, cold plunges and incredible cliffside views. A perfect blend of peace and celebration to close out your Bali adventure. They offer time‑slot bookings at specific hours, so you can reserve your preferred sunset or relaxation window in advance.

✨ A Perfect Last Day

Before heading to the airport, I treated myself to one last Balinese massage — €20 for a full hour of deep relaxation. It was such a nice way to close out the trip. That evening, I had a sunset drink at Single Fin, soaking up the final ocean views, followed by a cozy Italian dinner with a delicious antipasti platter.

Final Thoughts on Uluwatu

Uluwatu was absolutely stunning — from its cliffs and panoramic views to its elegant beach clubs and hidden spa gems. It definitely offers a calmer, more spread-out vibe compared to places like Canggu or Ubud.

To be honest, I expected a little more going on in terms of daily energy. While spots like Savaya bring nightlife, the area overall is pretty quiet. If partying is your main focus, it could make more sense to visit Uluwatu just for the day (e.g. for Savaya), and stay in Canggu instead.

Still, I’m super glad I experienced it. I might spend fewer days here next time — but the dramatic cliffs, amazing sunsets, and beach club magic definitely made it worth it.

From spa days to cliffside parties, Uluwatu had it all. What’s your perfect kind of escape?
